Halloween Party

Today we held our 2nd annual halloween and pumpkin carving party. So much fun. Lots of good food, good friends and happy kids.
Everyone had their own way to carve a pumpkin, but everyone made great pumpkins.

My

My grandma (at the age of 83) carving her first ever pumpkin.

Not bad for a first timer!

Of course, Jeff had to go for the power tools

On to the pinata.....
After all the kids got a chance at it, Jeff finally broke it open and the kids were in candy heaven (sorry parents)

Until next year.. Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Patch

After Lauren had ballet this morning we all went to get our flu shots. Lauren still mentions how traumatized she has been since "the mean nurse" stuck a needle in her leg last year, Jeff and I didn't let on to her what we were doing. As we were giving the nurse our information I realized Lauren was able to get the flu mist rather than a shot. Yeah!! Who ever invented the flu mist is a genious. Not only is there no needle but apparently it is 50% more effective than the shot itself. No crying, no trauma. Then on to funner things. Our yearly visit to the pumpkin patch. We have a great pumpkin patch near our house that has a playground and petting zoo.
Look dad, a new sport, pumpkin surfing!
Lauren picked a perfect Jack-O-Lantern pumpkin

Need a break after all that hard work lifting pumpkins.

Under the Big Top

Tonight we surprised Lauren with tickets to the circus. This is the third year we have gone and it is always so amazing. It is so fun to watch Lauren watch the circus. The awe in her eyes and the smile on her face.
Some of our favorite circus moments!

Lauren-isms

Yesterday on my way to taking Lauren to pre-school, I was telling Lauren that it wasn't going to be too long until Santa would be here.

Our Conversation:

Me: Do you want to go and visit Santa

Lauren: Yes

Me: What do you think you will ask Santa for?

Lauren: I don't know Mommy

Me: How about some new books?

Lauren: No mommy, I already have a hundred books

Me: How about some new boots?

Lauren: No mommy, I already have boots

Me: How about some new Barbies?

Lauren: No mommy, Barbies don't come from Santa, they come from Target....

I had nothing else. She is getting too smart.

Boring...

I realize I have not posted for a while, mostly because nothing exciting has been happening in our life worth writing about. But I was talking to a friend today and she said your life can't possibly be boring with Lauren around, and after some thought, I realized she is right. Just because we don't have picture worthy moments, life still keeps us on our toes.

I have noticed over the past three of four weeks that Lauren has become such a big girl. Her speech as well as conversation skills have improved so much. She seems to be like a sponge, always inquiring about what is going on, what we are talking about, etc...

Several days ago she said "Barack Obama (pronouced Bronco Obama) and John McCain are presidents. I don't like John McCain, he is too slow." (that's my girl!!) Not a completely ridiculous statement coming from a four year old. She makes me laugh.

We had our appointment with the new eye surgeon last week, and things went great. We are really comfortable with her and she feels that we should go ahead with the surgery. I finally got the call today that everything has finally been coordinated and we are set for surgery November 19. Jeff and I are both nervous, but know it is the best thing for her.

I promise to try to get some new pictures up soon.
