Honeymoon Survival

I am proud to say that Lauren (and my friend Mandy) survived and loved every moment of her first sleepover.

Jeff and I had a very nice and relaxing weekend. We stayed with Jeff's sister Stephanie Thursday evening. Friday morning we left to head to the Royal Gorge...but didn't quite listen to the directions given to us by Jeff's brother in law and somehow pulled right into Cripple Creek. Since we were there, we decided that we were tired of being in the car and decided to skip the Gorge. We will save it for a weekend with Lauren. Cripple Creek was having some 4th of July festivities including wood sculptures and sand sculpture building competitions. The sand castles were amazing. We chatted with the guys from a team call Sandtastic http://www.teamsandtastic.com/ for a while. Their work is so amazing. We were also treated to an amazing fireworks display over the mountains. Jeff loved the echoing from the fireworks that you can only get in the mountains, but never notice in the city.

After leaving Cripple Creek we headed to Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs. It is what I am calling my modern day version of the "Dirty Dancing" lodge. Okay, so there was no dancing, and no Patrick Swayze but resembled the lodges and they had activities available at every moment of the day for people of all ages. We took a beautiful paddle boat ride on the lake and spent a lot of time relaxing on our private balcony. We also ate..and ate..and ate. Needless to say the food there was amazing, as was our entire weekend.

Sadly, the only picture of the two of us together from the whole weekend.

A great view from our room.
